Is that Solar Stik as in HOT
or are those the panels that make things hot? Either way the picture is hot even if you don't mention anything about Solar Stik. Trust me, we all know what hot is. Thanks for putting the HOT in Solar Stik. It's good to know you are behind it 100%. I'll back you up anytime.

What I did
was I tied it to the mast bottom, hung it through the cockpit aft, under the poptop, and used a caribeaner to clip the other end to the stern rail. It droops down through the hatchway, and when you lay in it your shoulders are back by the cockpit seats and your feet just hang inside the cabin above the winch handle. Works great. I have to get some pics but will post.

Brian and I have been a little busy (and a LOT dirty!) in Galveston, Texas since Saturday morning providing hurricane relief to victims and first responders.....
Fresh coffee anyone? Who knew the hot beverage could make such an impact!

Nice pictures with Solar Panels in action, but....
... what are they doing? What are those brown and charcoal plastic cases? Batteries?
Are you making coffee using the solar panels, and wind generator (not to be overlooked)?
With the power-grid outages the solar panels and wind generator must be really helpful. No noisy generator and no need for precious gas which is probably in short supply.

We set up our solar stiks (3, one with wind gen attachment) and used them to charge multiple power paks (our battery packs, those cases you see). We used the power to make coffee almost around the clock (no one else was supplying it!) and the power paks were placed inside the high school during the night to supply lights, fans and charging power for those sleeping and for the mess hall. We also had a "charging station" set up for everyone (first responders and civilians) to use DC or AC to plug in their cell phones, laptops, police radios, etc. This was something the "big generators" were not providing. We also helped the ambulances keep their batteries charged at night so they didn't have to idle 24 hours a day. The Solar Stiks also powered a small fridge we keep in the trailer for shows that allowed us to provide cold beverages as well. We popped 10 bags of microwave popcorn one night for the Army's "movie night".
Thanks for the interest. It was an amazing experience to volunteer our time and energy (literally!). I have never appreciated flushing toilets, showers or my own bed so much!!!

Solar Power Works!
Thanks to your demonstration maybe there will be some people who will see the light!
Solar, and wind, can work when everything else is down. The setup you're running is portable, quiet, doesn't cause emission or pollution problems, and there is no need to run after gas to feed a noisy generator or change it's dirty oil.
So, is that 100W/stick plus wind generator? 300W+? Based on the light in the picture it looks like they would be running at, or near, maximum power output.
Hopefully the Emergency Preparedness people will see the advantage of solar and have some solar & wind backup systems for when there are outages.
This would be a good idea for an article in some Emergency Preparedness magazine. Take some more pictures!

We're fighting an uphill battle! Most sailors/cruisers can speak to the benefits of solar and wind, but for most others, it is an enigma. IMHO, solar and wind solutions are a natural fit in situations where a gas generator would normally be used... the REAL cost with a portable gas genset is in supporting the generator! fuel logistics and storage, maintenance, etc...
It was a successful run... and it turned alot of heads!!
