Damn! Actually, I'm currently at an undisclosed location in Afghanistan right now... Steph is in town. Empty Pocket is up in the yard there at CCYH... we had a pretty severe grounding at Lake Okeechobee, so good thing we had that grounding shoe under the keel :banghead: !! EP was due for a bottom job anyway, so we are having the repairs done as well as the hull completely stripped and resealed :what: . She should be back in the water by the time I get back in mid-August and ready for her next adventure!

Brian be safe in Afghanistan. Linda and I lived in Kabul back in the 70's until the bad guys came and jacked up the whole country. Mike grounded Pegasus Friday night in Ke'ehi lagoon in HI. Ran into a unmarked mud flat, no damage but did not get off until Sunday afternoon.

I could see why having a distraction like post #1802 on the bow could cause a guy to not pay attention where he was going. So it was really the Babe's fault.

I worked on BAF in '03-'04. There is a medical clinic by the Ed centers and PX. I founded that back in '03. At the time, I was the only civilian paramedic in the country.
I left Kunar Province back in Dec '13 where I was doing a totally different job. Quite an interesting area.

Damned straight! Actually, it's stunningly beautiful over here... amazing landscape!:waycool: Never mind all of the burned out military hardware everywhere... :hijack: Funny you mention Kabul. I was just on a mission at one of the 7500' peaks that overlooks the city tonight... simply beautiful!:wow3:

BTW, in that last photo, there's my "ride" in the back... it's a cleverly disguised (owned by an "agency") 12,000 lb heavy-armor Toyota Land-Cruiser! It's bomb proof! Also, note the muzzle on the tank.... someone had a bad day!

It was beautiful countryside. I have more than a few pictures from back in the day when the air was crystal clear.
This is myself in front of my clinic. As of late 2013, it was still in operation:

You are so right about thread drift though. We went waaaay overboard here ;')
Stay safe!

Stunningly Beautiful " Really" Compared to the other 27 countries I have been in, I found Afghanistan to be "One Big Rock Farm". I have seen those peaks as we cork screwed ourselves through the clouds coming in for a landing in Kabul. Not a fun time
