I read some time ago about a yacht built in the US that from memory has a water line length of about 24 with LOA of about 28. The article went on to say that some of these little yachts had circumnavigated. Can anyone help with the name??

Pearson Triton

The Pearson Triton was 28'4" overall, 20'6" at the waterline, with a beam of 8'3" she drew 3'11" and displaced 6,930 pounds. Is this the boat you are thinking of? A few have been around the world now. All the best, Robert Gainer

Do you have any other information?

How does she differ from the boat you are looking for? Do you have any other information you can add? All the best, Robert Gainer

This sort of sounds like

Lin and Larry Pardey's original 24-ft circumnavigator "Seraffyn."

Pacific Seacraft Dana 24?

The Dana 24 might be the boat in question. It was featured in the kite-assisted video of the sailor on single-handed passage across the Pacific. Here are a couple of links. The lower one is the video on YouTube. http://www.cruisingyachtsinc.com/dana24-a.htm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKGupz_9mGc Peter H23 "Raven"

Thanks Peter

The Dana is the one. I would be very interested in finding out more information about this yacht. It sure looks like it could be sailed anywhere. Perhaps if there are any owners out there who would like to reply.

it looks similar to a vancouver 27, a very sturdy and capable yacht that is heavily built for offshore use I have seen one in our area called The Spirit of Cutty Sark.It is an awesome little ship

G'day Mark

To find out more about the Dana 24, just Google "pacific seacraft dana 24". Last time I checked, several used ones were for sale and the factory has apparently resumed production so you can get a new one as well. I'd buy one in a heartbeat but the price is a tad too rich for my blood. *sigh* Peter H23 "Raven"

Hello Peter

It is wonderfull that a few of us "old" contibuters to this forum have in a kind of funny way formed a friendship. Noticed Jim the other day and his very attractive bride. I have been skippering yachts of all sizes over the years and I am thinking that a cute little yacht like this may just be the one I have been looking for. Recently I have delivered yachts of all sizes up to 103' but after all these years of sailing the oceans a little yacht that is easy to sail, cheap to park and maintain and a joy to own is in the shape of this one. It may be that I need to get over there and check a few out, purchase and then sail home. The sailng home bit would be the easy part. Peter if you can email me with any listings I would very much appreciate it. Would be a real hoot to catch up with yourself, Jim, Brian and Steph and all the crew including of course Phil....:)
