Welcome aboard Dave, Many of the boats on this shared Forum, Hunter, Catalina, Macgregor are not know as Blue Water Cruisers. Is this a mis-conception? How do you feel about it, Espically the Hunter's since I have a Hunter 290. I wouldn't expect to take it around the world but maybe one day down the ICW and across to Bimini and the Caribbean. What do you think?

ICW bound

Hi Ken, You are correct. In my opinion, many of these vessels are not considered typical blue water cruisrs. But there are alot of misconceptions about what cruising is. Not all cruising is making blue water runs. My thoughts are that you can easily spend 4 -5 years in the Carribean and only have to make a few overnight passages. The ICW and the Bahamas is a wonderful trip, and one that I would not think twice about making in your boat. The wonderful thing about that run, is that you are in realitively protected waters and when you do make the hop from South Fla over, it is only 55 miles to West End from W. Palm Beach. Typically, this leg is done at night when the Gulf lays down. There might be a few things you will want to add, but other than that go and enjoy. dave
