My wife and I have a oday 25 we are learning to sail with. We are doing research on larger blue water boat to take out for a week or two with 3 small children what would be a good sailboat for trips like this?

What do you mean 'out'? If you are saying in the open ocean, and you are chartering, I would say anything they have in the 32-38 foot range should be just fine. You don't need a tank if that's what you are concerned about. Just about anything in the charter fleet in that size range should be fine for what your intentions are. Have fun!
A lot depends on where you plan to sail. Do you plan to stay on your anchor? Or in marinas? How long between ports? What are the usual wind conditions where you plan to sail? Depth of water?
In general scaring the family will lead to a short sailing life with them.

not for nothing but your new to you Oday 25 is quite a good boat for what you are proposing. It may not be as roomy as a 35+ footer but a good sailer. It can handle alot of blue water. Just have to watch the weather, but even a bigger boat you would have to watch the weather. I had anO25 with shoal/center board and it sails like a big boat. Set it up for your family to be as comfortable as possible and go for an etended weekend sail and see how she does. The 25 may actually be better since it might be easier to handle than a big boat? Just my opinion, I wish I still had my 25 as It was the best handling boat I ever had.
