I'm putting these terminal block fuses on my batteries. How do I determine which fuses to use (30 to 300 amps) ? Thanks to all for all the useful information I've found here.

What size wire?

Hello Maine Sail. I was hoping you'd be here. It's 4 AWG. Is there a formula to follow?

It really bugs me how Catalina skimped so much on the factory high current wire.:doh: today they use 1/0 or 2/0 on similar builds / motors...

If you are starting the motor, or the bank could ever be used to do so, then you'll ideally want to use the 150% ampacity allowance that the ABYC allows for.

4GA 105C wire (make sure it is 105C wire) is safe at 100% ampacity to 180A. If you go to the 150% the ABYC allows for then a 250A fuse would be a good option.

Thanks for the info. I'll read up more on this. Swapping out to 2/0 was something I was thinking about putting on my list.
