Get some good epoxy marine filler, some 100, 150, 220 and 400 grit sand paperpaper, a putty paddle or spatula, a can of acetone, some fine rubbing compound and a good carnuba wax.Start by roughing sanding the scratches and the area about two inches around them with the 100 grit sandpaper. Dont take off any more gelcoat than you need to in order to get the rough edges out. wipe the area clean with acetone being careful not tosaturate it. Fill the sanded area with filler and use a paddle to fair it in smoothly and to remove excess. After the filer dries (@ 30 minutes) sand the area with progressively finer grades of sandpaper till you get to the 400 grade. Dont use it yet... Clean the area with the acetone again and then paint it. (If paint the manufacturer has a surface prep plan follow it ) Paint the area and let it cure per the manufacturer's instructions.Use the 400 grit paper to wet sand the edges of the painted are to fair it in and then use the rubbing compound to finish it. Finally cover it with the carnuba wax.
