I recently bought a catalina 27 1972.The hatch below the stove has what appears to be a wood box that is glassed in but the wood is badly deteriorated,what was this? should I remove it and clean the area up?
Do you have a traditional layout or settee? The hatch below the stove? Do you mean the storage/thru-hull access under the settee cushion? I can only guess that there was some kind of storage box installed there. Possibly an extra battery box? If there is no apparent reason to have it, why not (carefully) remove it. If you find that you do need it, sounds like you'd have to rebuild it anyway. LaDonna
