I am running line aft. Thought I had a flange at the base of the mast but do not. What is the best and safest way to attach blocks to the base of the mast? I really do not want to drill holes is the cabin top so I am avoiding standup and lead blocks. Jeff

Cheek blocks

Here (at the link)are the two cheek blocks for leading lines aft at the bottom of our mast. Another approach would be simple 1/8th inch stainless plate with a hole in it to fit over the insert that goes inside the mast at the step. "Ears" on the plate extending out beyond the mast could be bent up, and drilled to hold blocks. When you drop the mast on top of the plate, and tighten the stays, you won't need any bolts to hold the plate down! David Lady Lillie

Home made mast hinge plate

turning blocks. I installed the 1/8" SS mast hinge plate with ears on each side turned up 45 degrees for the blocks. I have lots of holes on the ears & the two vertical members because when I made it, I didn't know what I needed. Two more cheek blocks are bolted to the cabin top & a line clutch on the aft edge of the cabin top for securing the 2 halyards. Regards, Bob B.
