Block glassed onto hull

I am installing a new head. Since the old mounting board plate is somewhat
cut up, I decided to replace it. When I removed the old board, I noticed a
block of wood (I guess) about 3X5 inches X .75 inch thick (7X12X2 CM I
guess) thick glassed onto the hull. I can see no use for this, unless it is
meant for some kind of backing plate for a transducer (which this one
doesn¹t have). What is it for? Any reason to leave it in place?

Thanks,

Chris Brown

I have a similar block glassed onto the inside of the hull. Don't know
the original purpose but I have an electric water pump attached to mine
that feeds fresh water from the holding tank to the sink. Maybe it was
an optional accessory?
