Does anyone know of a manufacture that is exempt from having had blisters develop. I know that Valients had a terrible time with the problem and I'v heard of others with problems, but what I'd like to know if any manufacturer has NOT had the problem...Premature thanks

hearsay

Gary, I have heard that blister problems did not start till they started adding flame retardants into the resins. I am told that this occured about 1978. I hope someone more knowledgable than myself can confirm that. r.w.landau

Additional Blister Info

I found a website www.yachtsurvey.com to be helpful in explaining to people without chemical engineering degrees the hows and whys of blisters.

Flame retardant resin seldom the cause

It is true that, in the late seventies, Uniflite (then the makers of Valiants) did try this, and the consequences busted the company. This type of blistering was often very large and ABOVE the water line, and had nothing to do with the ingress of water. After a couple of years, that resin was no longer used, but Valiant's reputation suffered for a long time. Eventually, Valiant was ressucitated by the current builders, in Texas, I believe, and since then, the boats have always had a great reputation.

Question isn't about blisters,but manufactures

The question that I asked wasn't about the cause of blisters. There has been conflicting reports as to HOW they are caused....The question that I posed, asked if there were any manufactured boats that did not develop blisters? Premature thanks
