All that's left is applying bottome paint. I removed the electrical tape before painting, so that the entire barrier coat, including the top edge had anti-fouling protection. I used VC17 again. Electrical tape came off without a hitch. Nice and smooth making a sharp line with epoxy on the tape breaking off cleanly. I then re-masked with plain masking tape prior to painting. Attached Photo..... The final product waiting to launch! Started sanding in early October. Worked 1 day a weekend until snow in early December (time to go boarding!). Started filling blisters in early April, working at first 1 day a weekend, but them ramping up in May to both Saturday's and Sunday's. I launched June 7th. Special thanks to my friend Dan "da man" Simkins for his guidance and constant reminders to be patient and do it right. Also, special thanks to my very good friend Bob for just being there. And, special thanks to my wife for her support on those mornings when I just didn't want to go back, and for the yummy lunches and thermoses of coffee. Kevin in VT

Ahhhh, the photo forum....

I hadn't discovered this area yet. Guess that would have been the best route. I'll enter my journey over there. Thanks, Kevin in VT

Kudos on a GREAT job!

Kevin, Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I'm in for this type of repair soon, and like you, I'm going to "dive in myself." Thanks for an informative, well-written account. It's going to save me a lot of time and guesswork on my job. One quick question. What would you estimate the cost of materials to be - just a ballpark guess? Thanks again for taking the time to photograph the whole thing and write it down so others could learn from your experience.
