I have just purchased a 1984 Catalina 30. It hasnt been running for a while. I am told I need to bleed the fuel lines and also told that is not an easy thing to do. I have added a stabilizing mix to the fuel and new glow plugs. I would think that and hot batteries should start it. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

Not difficult

Did my M25 for the first time this year when I cleaned my pick up tube in the fuel tank and both my fuel filters. The bleed points I used were the top of the fuel filter(the fuel filter on the engine, if you have two like me) and one other spot further downstream before it branches off into each cylinder.(Follow the line downstream and you should spot it) Have a friend turn the ignition key to the first click so the electric pump starts and bleed the top of the fuel filter first until no bubbles and then do the other spot. It only takes a few seconds for each point. Don't use ether. In cold weather some guys use a hot hair dryer to assist.

It Is Easier than most people think

Both Johns' answers are correct. It is very simple. The second response has a great link. Also use that link and click on M25 for a picture of the engine showing you exactly what two things to turn to do the bleed. I put off replacing my fuel filters for a while because of the dreaded "bleeding FEAR." Turned out to be a cinch. Go for it.
