Bleed valve to bleed air out of fuel system

Another question.

Is there a source to order a new bleed valve for the fuel system? The head on my valve is in pretty bad shape and open or box wrench won't really grip it. Have to use pliers or vice grips.

Can a new one be ordered?

You should be able to get this from the engine manufacture. You may be able find one at a local diesel shop, carry the old one with you if looking local.

The fuel system is self bleeding..........just run the fuel pump for a minute or so.

The problem with running the pump is to do so easily, you activate the key switch in the spring loaded position. This aslo provides current to the glow plugs, not sure I would want to light them up for a couple of minutes. I use an old clip on switch, original used to turn over your car engine to adjust your point gap...(remember points?), open up the breaker panel and clip one end on the +12 bus, clip the other end on the +12 of the pump, accessed by disconnecting the shovel connector on top of it. Than push the switch and pump away.

I try to provide useful information, but I don't always have the time to provide Mainsail like presentations. My life does not revolve around my boat as much as I enjoy sailing. I windsurf, play in a band, hold down a full time job, have my own business, take care of a 4 acre waterfront property with many gardens, make time for my kids and girlfriend and 93yr old father, so you will just have to take it from my description, and ask useful questions.

You can also run your pump by pulling the positive lead out of the blade connector and holding it on the positive side of the glow plug selenoid which is right beside the pump. Pump will run but not the glow plugs.

Sounds like me 20 years ago.......I also took care of my Mother and Father, that in it self can really some times can consume you.

Your an outstanding Son and if you ever need any help let me know, it will just take one day to fly back East... I would just need a place to stay.
