We have a maxprop and have noticed the blade is tarnishing and was not sure if it will start to pit as well.

Read about Pettit #1792 Zinc Coat Barnacle Spray and was curious if anyone had good luck with it.

Any other solutions people have used?

That's the "gold standard" for prop protection from growth, not corrosion. Just polish her up and follow the directions on the can which should last you years. That and a couple of zincs and your prop will thank you.

FYI- freshwater baoters should use magnesium anodes, not zinc.

My boat is on the upper Chesapeake. I've pondered the Magnesium versus Zinc. I'm fresh at the start of the season, but the salt line moves up in late summer.

I noticed a couple boats in the yard have the folding props painted with VC17.

Good idea?

Seems it will slow down any pitting etc to the prop, but just wondering if this creates other problems...

The zinc likely will go faster.

I too am using the Pettit #1792 Zinc Coat Barnacle Spray, but I admit to this being my first year with it on a Flexofold just purchased. It has been suggested that it is not a good idea on Sail drives, which I have. ???

Of course just make sure to at least tape off the zincs if spraying in place.
