Peggy, you were right when you told me 20 gallons was not enuff for a proper holding tank. Time is short, but I could repace my tank with a larger
bladder. What do you think?

I'm not a fan of bladders for waste holding

"Too small" is relative. I was on a "no discharge" lake for more than 20 years with only an 18 gallon tank...it was adequate for us for as much as a 3 day weekend. But there were only two of us...it might not have been big enough for a family of four.

So...let's find out what you actually do need (or think you do). Toilet--manual or electric? How many people? How long do you thiink you should be able to last between pumpouts? Where do you spend most of your time...hugging the shore inside 3 miles, or out in the Gulf?

Three of us(men) on the boat from NC to Tampa with a 22 gallon tank. And no overboard capability. In two weeks we pumped out three times after leaving Beaufort with an empty tank. We used just enough water to clear the bowl during the day. Then at night with fresh water just enough pumps to clear the hose, about six feet to the tank in the v-berth center locker.

We have about 10 weeks of long trips on the boat. Always near shore, Don't do ovenights anymore. 20 Gallons lasts about 6 days. 2 people, one large dog. Manual raritan, no salt water. Fresh water from a small jug as needed.

100 gallons of unused water lasts more than a month. 12 # of propane lasts about 3 months. We are planning 1200+ miles up to Chesapeake Bay and if it is easy enuff, I would like to add to our holding capacity. I have lots else to do, so If we have to stop every 5 days, we will.

A 20 gal. tank can last you 6 days and yr complaining???

Just how many days' waste do you think you SHOULD be able to store between pumpouts???

You don't need a larger tank, you just need more realistic expectations!

Avoid the need to use a tank by installing...

...a USCG certified Type I MSD (device that's treats each flush and discharges it LEGALLY, with absolutely -0- negative environmental impact. Legal in all FL waters except the Keys.
