I am confused about the attchment for the bitter end for my anchor line.... there does not appear to be a place to secure the line. I have a Pearson 28 1981 that I just took out for the first time last week. Can someone advise me on this please?

bitter end

thanks Ross, So basically you had to construct one. That was what I assumed, but I can not figure out how this anchor was secured for the last 25 years! amazing really. Greg

I know the mid- 80's Pearson 28-II

has an anchor locker and so I assume your boat does, as well. The easiest thing to do is the bolt and back plate a big simple horn cleat into the side of the locker for the bitter end of your anchor line. Having just said this, my H28.5 has an anchor locker in the bow and I bought the cleat for this purpose a year ago, but have yet to take my own advice.... In the interim, whenever I plan to anchor, I tie off the bitter end of the rode to a mooring cleat before dropping the hook...

just a good sized eye bolt will serve

well enough to shackle the bitter end, it doesn't need to be fancy.

I have a P303 with an anchor locker. On the side of the anchor locker there is hardware in the shape of a half circle with two legs sticking out (means to fasten it to a bulkhead). I just use a stopper knot (figure 8) in the end so it won't pull through and go overboard. Of course... one would tie the anchor line off with the appropriate scope on a bow cleat.
