Seems like the birds get addicted to one spot. Move your boat to a different slip and see if the problem doesn't go away.
I also use the Sparfly. It's relatively cheap and flimsy and the funky V shape is somewhat of a poor landing. This of course doesn't stop them from sitting on the spreaders and crapping all over. I may take my owl down and mount it upon one of the high pilings on my slip next spring.
