Does anyone know of or have experince with a bimmini constructed so that the stainless steel arch on the Hunter 380 is used as part of the basis of support for a bimmini. It seems like this a natural and would be less cluttered set up like this. Thank you, John R. Mance, M.D.

bimini using arch

Just got a 410, and am having the local canvas people here (Island Nautical, City Island NY) design a bimini using the arch as you suggest. It is an obvious thing to do. I have seen the one that Hunter sells as original equip, but not happy with their design. Not only do you want the arch as part of the support, there should be no other support attached to the deck, and you want it to fold up flat against the arch when not in use. They are designing this for me now, and when it is installed I can send you pictures (about 3 weeks from now). You can email me at shfmd@att.net.

Bimini on 376

I made my own using two vertical 7/8" SS tubes at aft end of cockpit and a cross tube between them. It works great covers the whole cockpit (and keeps the rain off). But,relying on the sprayhood for support means you cannot have the hood down and bimini up. This is not so clever on hot days when a little breeze is most welcome. Regards

bimini

I had one done for my 410 last year. My local canvas guy did it. It attaches to the arch via a row of snaps on the top side of arch. There are two 1 inch stainless tubes that support the bimini when deployed. When not in use the bimini folds against the arch and is covered by a boot. The boot snaps to the top of the arch to keep everything snug. Simple and quick to deploy. Bryce S/V Spellbinder
