Looking to add a bimini to my Catalina 22 for next season. I found several options as far as materials go. There is 1oz poly-cotton blend which is the cheapest. Next is 14oz vinyl that is only $13.00 more. Then there is 9.25 sunbrella which cast $50.00 more. Is Sunbrella worth the extreme $$? Does anyone have comparable experiences with these products. I don't mind paying the extra if Its worth it. But if it last only one extra year why bother?

Nothing will last like Sunbrella

Joe: Nothing is going to last like Sunbrella. Check out your harbor and see what everyone uses. I have seen Sunbrella last for over 20 years. The stitching is usually shot several time before the fabric.

Marine canvas

Joe: Steve is right, nothing will outlast Sunbrella. The stitching will last longer than the fabric if you use TENERA thread. We have a marine canvas guy up here that uses it. Looks good and wears like IRON! Weasel

I've had mine...

...for 12 years and had it done with sunbrella (the only thing the mfg would use). Only now thinking of replacing it, and that is only because I am going to relocate the boat next summer 200 miles away from the dodger (including a fly and side curtains) mfg (I am a loyal customer to him).
