Hi All,

I've decided I need a Bimini for my Hunter 240. The coaming mount model specific model sold here in the chandelry won't fit my needs. It sits VERY low and folds back blocking access to the motor and swim ladder.

The problem with getting a Bimini to fit the 240 is the long boom and low boom height in relation to the Stern Rail seats. Has anyone come up with an interesting solution? Does anyone have pics of their Bimini installed on a 240 or even a new H25.

Thanks.

Ken

My Bimini is in the garage because of the same issue. It is useless. I either need to rig a new frame to use it on the frame of the stern rail seats or buy one specifically made to do so. A stern rail model is available here for my H26, and I'm sure there is one for the 24 as well. As with everything, it's just time and money that are required.

I have a 260 with a stern mounted Bimini. A new Hunter 25 just took the slip next to ours. Their Bimini is rigged exactly the same, behind the boom and mounted from the stern rails.

It looks like the stern/cockpit of the new 25 has changed quite a bit. On my 240 the walk through is on the port side and the stern rail stainless stops right at the edge of the seat. I love the look of the Bimini on the 260 and this 25. High enough to walk (with a duck) under to get to the Swim platform and folds back out of the way.

The pictures below kind of show what I'm up against. (left picture is the new H25, right two pictures are of the stern of my H240) I'm sure someone could build something workable with a longer back brace ending on either side of the tiller attachment. $$$$ looks to get a little out of control when you start looking at custom jobs.

Does anyone have the cross cockpit rail to rail measurement of their 260 available? I'd love to be able to retrofit that bimini with longer tubes to make it work with my 240 (even if I can't sail with the bimini activated)

Trouble with biminis

I bought a bimini several years ago for my 240 and after finally getting it to work, am very pleased with the results.
I measured from the rubrail, vertical to the boom. Horizontal from side to side, across the gunnel.
I ordered it, got it assembled and discover the rails were too high. Had to drill out the rivets and start trial and error. Trimmed an inch at a time off the aluminum tubes until I got it right. Then re-riveted the ends back on. I bought the 24" long mounts with the intent of being able to slide it back and forth. That would work if you had 2 people.
I had to move the bail on the boom forward about 10 inches for the mainsheet attachment.
Instead of the straps they furnished, I use bungee cords. Hooked around the stern seats and the lifeline on each side.
At night and I want to fish, I just take it down and lean it forward.
