I am still trying to equip my C22 that won't be here till the end of May. Does anyone have suggestions for a bimini top that will fit the C22. I have looked at Anchor shade by Taylor Made but you can't cruise with the umbrella up. It was relatively inexpensive but does not meet all the needs of cruising. Thanks for any info you might have. Maximum Bimini size

I have an old style C22 the largest Bimini that you can use on it is 72" long x 85" wide x 46" high The hight is a bit adjustable 42" is were you want it but the 46" top will adjust down to this. This top will also connect to the outside tracks. I took an old set of cars and welded the brackets to them. When I want to remove the top I just remove the cars as well.

How about this

I saw this one on Chip Ford's site. Go to projects then Chuck Bennett's bimini top. Tell me what you folks think because I'm looking for one too. Phil

Bimini

Phil, I took a look at the top. I think this is what I am looking for. I think I will try to contact Chuck Bennet. I am an old Alabama boy and my wife was born in Dothan, Chuck's hometown. If I get a chance to talk to him, I will let you know what he has to say about the bimini. The cost is about twice the cost of the anchor shade, but you can sail with the bimini up whereas with the anchor shade, you couldn't. Again, thanks for the info. Chuck Turner

Sunbrella

I bought my 1998 C-22 mkII used. It had a Sunbrella brand bimini already attached. I can have it up on all points of sail. You might consider them.

Try Overton's

Chuck,I installed a bimini last year on my 1983 C22. I got it from Overton's out of North Carolina for $200.00 including a boot for it. You should check out thier web site www.overtons.com

Chuck Bennett

Phil, I talked to Chuck Bennett about the bimini and he is really satisfied with it. As he noted on the Chip Ahoy website, he has to lower the bimini in order to get on and off the boat easily. That is probably true of any bimini on that boat. He also said that if you order a longer track, you can move the bimini forward over the hatch. I think I will check out the Overton and Sunbrella bimini's and see how they compare. I think between the three, we should be able to find what we want.
