Bimini & Dodger on 336

We recently spent a very rainy week on Lake Champlain! We have a Hunter 336 with the traveler mounted on the pedestal. From other posts I've read it's possible to get canvas that connects the bimini and dodger to use when the boom is clipped off to one side. Any advice on where to purchase this? It would have been nice to hang-out and be dry! Two kids got a little antsy.

Mostly custom made by addying zippers to the canvas fronting the bimini and in the back of the dodger. Don't understand why you envision the boom needs to be clipped to one side. The Biminis are usually a two part canvas with one covering the front of the arch and another the rear allowing the traveller and boom to freely operate. The bimini with the connector to the dodger is speacially useful when underway in a rainy day. Any fairly good canvas person can fabricate that piece for you and install the zippers.

Sorry, mistook your mention of the pedestal for the arch. Now that is a bummer for a gruising vessel to have the cocpit invaded by the traveller. You may relocate it back to the arch or retain it if you wish. The info about the canvas connector is good.

Hi Rachel

Hope everything with Pilgrim is well. Benny is correct. We got a "camper top" piece made by our local canvas guy. It hooks to twist locks along the back edge of dodger and then zips into a zipper we had installed on leading edge of bimini. Yep you have to move the boom to the side at anchor, etc but that is no big deal. I dont have a pic of it. Also on ours, we added to zippers along the side edges and had to panels made to zip in there that drop down to the cockpit coaming. Really closes it up nicely. We put it up one time at sea when it was pouring. The seas were calm so we lowered the main. Kept us pretty dry. Indeed it wont work under sail, but it meets our needs. Im sure as heck not moving the traveler for some shade that I never use while sailing.
