You gota cut!
Hey Ed, I'm not far from you, I keep my boat in Deltaville at Stingray. Anyway I've gotan 89 Hunter 30 and had the same problem of course. At first I tried to just adjust thetopping lift. I worked fine on a broad reach in light winds, the extra draft was great. Butclose to the wind performance was pitiful. I called Quantum Sails in Deltaville anddiscussed the problem, they said I had to cut the sail. I agreed and had it done. Onehundred and fifty dollars latter I had a sail that worked great. Cut it for sure! I believe Itook 16 inches from the foot. I took it from the clew only! I did not move the boom! Inother words the foot is cut on an angle like the new hunters. As an added bonus I had thesail rebuilt as a loose footed sail. Now I can increase or decrease draft as desired. Goodluck, and sail fast!
