Does anyone know the exact or nearly the dimensions of the bimini??? I found some good deals and wanna know the height, the width of the attachment points, LXWXH anything in particular for the 23.5. I'm assuming the bimini is pretty straight forward considering there are no aftstays.

Thank you for your answer in advance I couldn't find any dimensions in the previos threads.

Sir, I would be extremely caustious about purchasing that bimini off ebay unless it says if is for a Hunter 23.5. Otherwise, You may be sorry.

I designed the first bimini for the 23.5 in conjunction with Ameriseam years ago and you can purchase their product thru this site. I would suggest a lighter color as the darker color gives off a lot of heat underneath.

Please reconsider as I fear you may be ripped off as I know what it costs just to get one built with aluminum rails. You want to stay with the sunbrella cloth too.

I appreciate everyone's advice!! This is my 6th boat and currently own 41 islander Freeport... I use the hunter to just slip out and enjoy a day sail... I'm familiar with higher quality Bimini... In reality I will only use it while having few drinks at the dock. When I'm out sailing I prefer open cockpit. Now that I've received tons of advice and no measurements I'll have to go down today and take measurements. I also forgot to mention it was a charity boat so I paid 1400 and have 500 in sail/hatch cover from hunters store.maybe another 300 in new lines. Plan on buffing it out changing the decals.

If you ever decide to sell the boat, a good quality bimini vs. a cheap one can be the key to selling the boat. Think about it.

I'd like to put a dodger and bimini top on our '81 H22 also. I don't know how to make it work with the traveler in the front of the cockpit. Maybe just a bimini top, I don't know. If anybody has done that I'd sure like to see how was it done, and what top fits it.

I just purchased Bimini off the above mentioned auction... All I can say is wow the material is sunbrella, reinforcements in the high wear areas and stainless made this a nice compliment to the boat at 1/4 competitors cost...I have some ideas for the stern rail seating that's discontinued...I'm going to bend the stainless in a tubing bender... Tack weld with stick shield.. Then have a welder offshore as I work in the oilfield do the clean welds... Will check back in and how it all ties into the Bimini !!!

Most people do not have the resources to make a bimini like you do which is a plus but you are correct measurments are important as Stainless steel tubing is not cheap and I hope you are using 1 inch. For best fit, I would suggest measuring from the center of the cockpit coaming to the other center of the cockpit coaming with a length of suggested 6 feet vs. the 4 ft. shorter version. You want to make sure that it clears the boom and I would tell you to raise the mainsail in a no wind day and tape a string across the top of the cockpit coaming and measure to the underneath of the boom and then allow a minimum of 6 inches for the bimini to clear

$89 for a bimini with Sunbrella and 1" stainless tubing and fittings? I need a bimini for my project boat and will have to check Ebay out. I want a rail mount though. I may have to improvise.

On my 23.5 I had my main sail cut about 9" in the stearn end off to nothing at the mast and gave me a lot more head room under the bimini so I could make it higher. Made a big difference. Still sails great.

Bimini for H22. My first boat was a Helson 22 and I had purchased a new bimini for it and sold the boat a year later. Not wanting to part with the new bimini I made it work on my H22 even though it was oversized. I measured the height of the bimini and marked that height on the backstay from a guessed attachment point on the deck that would make it level and be just behind the end of the boom. I then measured from the boom to the backstay, minus 1 inch. I also measured the offset of the backstay at the height of the bimini. I then measured and put a grommet through the bimini at that point and run my backstay through it. The bimini is oversized and covers my transom and motor. It was also a little wide but I bent it in which made it a little stiffer. The only issue is, when I want to close it it has to fold up and be held up by the backstay. I also cut one side of the cover at the backstay point and added another zipper. Personally, I like the oversized bimini. When I want to trailer the boat the Bimini drops down with the back-stay when I lower the boom. I leave it attached and tie it down to the toe-rail with a bungee.

earlfixit - thanks much for that info! That's kind of what I had figured out. I measured the length and it looks likes a 5 foot length would do the trick. Is that what you used? I was a little concerned about how the mainsheet will clear the forward struts or holddowns on the bimini though. I have not been able to find a picture anyplace of someone with a bimini top on a H22.

Thanks for that, earlfixit. That gives me a much better idea of how to go about installing one.
