I have a RL70CRC and I'm contemplating changing the RL520 to a RL530 that is currently hooked together with HSB. I want to do the HSB2 update. I believe that this is posssible based on your earlier post. I understand that I need some course computer info to do the marpa function. I have a compass on the 4000 autopilot, but do not seem to ahve anything from the list on the rymarine website. I have ST60 instruments and really don't have a place to mount an ST80 compass. Is it possible to do this with just the transducer? Will MARPA not work unless I upgrade to some kind of course computer. Why can't the system work off the remote compass for the autopilot...seems redundant to add more comapss information. Thanks for you advice. Dan Jonas

10Hz Compass Information

Marpa and Radar Overlay are best utilized with stable fast compass heading information. It will work with NMEA Heading, SeaTalk Heading or COG, but it works best (I would only recommend) with a stabilized 10Hz NMEA heading input. This can come from either a M92649 active compass, 10Hz compass output from a 150g/400G Course Computer, or another manufacturers 10Hz NMEA compass output. You autopilot SeaTalk port can not put out a stabilized 10Hz Heading output.
