Do you keep your bilge dry? Do you worry about your keel bolts when they are sitting in the bilge water?

I rerouted the ice box drain via a pump so I could keep the bilge dry. But, then I installed central air and had no choice but to route the condensate drain
to the bilge. I would not worry about the bolts.

Not the bolts...
...but the odor. I keep the bilge pristine as a function of maintenance. It's a great selling point to prospective buyers.
Fortunately the newer Hunters don't leak from multiple places, so that helps keep the bilge dry.

Central Air - Dry Bilge
Ever hear of a condensator?
Cut the overboard discharge water line and insert the condensator in the line. There is a third nipple on the condensator, it has a small hose that goes to the drain pan for the AC unit. The condensator creates a vacuum from the discharge line and sucks the water from the drain pan and sends it overboard with the discharge water.
Thus....a dry bilge
The condensator is the size of a cell phone, just a little thicker.

No choice
I have to keep mine dry. The design of my 27 is such that bilge is very flat and shallow. If there is more than a slight amount of water in there, it will run into the settees when heeling. I use a turkey baster if necessary to keep it dry (there is never enough to trigger the pump).

Have you ever tried a big sponge? They work much better than most people would suspect. A big sponge can hold quite a bit of water.
