I have a 1977 model 25 and want to know what is the usual amount of water to be exspected to pump out once a month from the bilge. I am getting about a 1.5 gallon Thanks, Raymond Kreps, Wind Machine
None is preferred, but with a thirty plus year old boat there are bound to be leaks. I get maybe a pint when we have a good downpour, but I have at least stopped the leaks at the chainplates, mast step, cockpit and anchor drains.
Check your toe rails too, mine were pretty bad at the bow. Stanchions, bow & stern pulpits, mast step, all deck hardware, etc..... When you do rebed deck stuff the conventional wisdom is to go with butyl tape on that. Maine Sail is the go to guy for that. Check his thread here to get more info on it.
Thanks so much for the good info. I will be sure to check my toe rails and give my deck hardware a good look over as well. she is in pretty good shape but im sure there is areas that i have not looked at or seen up close yet. Just a little concerned and want to get this under con
