So my O'day 28 has the original bilge strainer in it. I nice cast bronze item that even had a cast screen (until I tried to clean it) It basically fell apart when I tried to clean the corrosion off it. Went down to West Marine and nearly had heart failure when I found a replacment that was $52. it had a plated screen on it. anyway, long story short is that figured that was complete highway robbery. So I stopped by the craft shop on the way home and picked up a 59 cent sheet of Plastic Craft Canvas. I cut it out to fit in the bottom of the filter housing then glued it in place with E6000. So far its working better than the original one (not half plugged up) and the total fix was about 6 bux with glue. I've also made replacement filter screens for inline filters with this stuff. You can find it with various hole sizes if you look around and the good thing is that the stuff doesn't rot or corrode and its easy to clean off.
