Getting closer to the water.Have a Venture 25,circa 1976.Figure a hand pump goes without saying, however, could use input regarding electric pump choice. No watermarks below V-berth,galley,or benches.Have replaced swing keel and lockdown bolts and washers. All input appreciated especially regarding V-25.

Yeah Popeye you don't explain your problem

very well. I don't know what a Venture 25 looks like but I have owned a few trailerables in the past with a swing iron keels keel trunks going through the center of the cabin. These boats have no bilge and they are wet, specially when the boat heels underway. We used to instal a canvas gasket in the keel slot to prevent water spray from entering through the bolts. Most of the water though comes from cracks at the base of the keel trunk. We found that pouring epoxy and letting it seep into the cracks did most good. We had an electric pump in one of them but it was manually operated. It consisted of a Rule 500 GPH with a discharge hose connected to an opening in the top of the keel trunk and wired straight to the battery with the positive lead includying a fuse holder and an off and on togle switch. Although it was installed in one side of the keel trunk it could be released from the base and moved to empty the other side. When resting at anchor the epoxy and the gasket did a good job of maintaining the sole dry. Hope this helps you.

Back to you,Benny&Landsend!

First, thanks for your response. That being said, haven't had a problem yet as the boat hsn't been in the water for 10+-years.I'm shooting for next spring, getting her ready and trying to anticipate future needs. So far I have a radio, compass, and depth finder. Those as I understand it are basic necessities. The boat is a Macgregor Venture 25.Don't know if that clears up boat type or not but that is all I have. popeye
