I checked my bilge pump today, a Rule Mate 750, and it was not working. The pump was seized but I got it to start working again. The Level Switch is not starting the pump though, it will only run in manual. I say this because I moved up the float and the pump did not start. I ordered a new pump from Pumpbiz.com. Question is, is that pump have a removable plug or do I have to replace the whole wire bundle? I was trying to remove the connection at the pump but it did not seem to want to come out. I stopped so not to break it. Thanks.

give the switch some time

Did you hold the old switch closed for a few seconds before declaring it dead? Just had a neighbor ask for help on his brand new bilge he thought was broken this weekend - same Rule pump and we discovered it had a delay on and off when hooked to power. I believe the connection at the pump is hard wired and you are looking at a seal - get marine grade wire splices with the heat shrink and secure those as high as possible with a nylon clamp.

How can the pump be bad....

if it's running in manual mode? Sounds like the float switch is bad.
