Greetings all, I have recently purchased an 86' Hunter 25.5. Most of the immediate things have not been to much of a problem (yet). However, and I regret for asking..............but does it have a bilge pump? I have not owned a sail boat before. All the power boats I have had have one. Thank you for the help! Mike

Pump

My '85 did not come with a bilge pump and I have never installed one, but think it would be a good idea to put one in as a normal safety measure (especially if you have an inboard). My main reason for procrastination is the fact that I have never had a bit of water in the bilge with the exception of some melt water from the ice box and a lot from a lightening strike last season. The strike led to a firm decision to install one. I already have a circuit setup for a bilge pump, so have no excuse other than procrastination.

My '86 25.5 has one. It does not have an auto-on feature, just flip the switch and its on, even if the bilge is dry. Probably a good idea to have one. I rarely use mine, boat is always dry, except for the one year my fresh water tank hose 'T' connection pushed apart from ice due to my failure to drain it one winter. When I filled the tank, I got a few gallons in the bilge before I realized what was happening!
