Hi,
Does anybody have a bilge pump on H23?
If yes, is it possible to share some pictures of that instalation?
I was trying to access the space between the inner mold and the hull and couldn't do it.
I'm not sure if my boat had the keel bolts area changed and that space was "closed".
My intention is to install a bilge pump there.

Thank you for any tip on that!

I don't have a 'real' bilge pump

Because the bilge in the H23 is very small and inaccessable. However, it does collect water from missc. drips and leaks (it's a 1986). I bought a small pump from home depot for about $15. They always seem to have it in stock. It's got a shaft that connects to a wireless drill or wireless screwdriver. I bought some plastic tubing to fit into those small holes by the kneel botls and adapted it to the pump hose. I use it about once a month and suck up about 1/2 gallon or so of water-depends how much it rains! Naturally, this is not a pump that you would use in an emergency, but it is cheap, easy and gets rid of the annoying puddle in the bilgle area.

Louis,
Good catch!
Is the pump you brough like those ones used on fountains?
Do you know were the water on your bilge comes from?
Do you have a picture of your keel bolts area?
I'd like to confirm if my keel bolts area were worked or not.

Thank you !

No it not a fountain type.

It is self-priming. The water is the accumulated leaks from parts unkown of the boat- mostly I think from the hull/deck joint. Unfortunately, I am leaving tonight for a trip so I can't send photos. I will be back the end of next week. I will be glad to take some pictures for you then.
Here's a link to home depot for a similar pump.

I have been thinking about this project too. I was going to route a rose from the left side setee through a small hole into the middle fiberglass rib. The other alternative is to drill a hole through the inner skin underneath the electrical board and feed the hose forward. Either way, we'll need a self priming pump on a hose, instead of a standard bilge pump.

Louis,
Thank you for the depo link.
I had a friend that almost lost his boat on a slip because a leak on a keel bolt started during the week, the bilge pump kill the batery (he didn't had solar panel) and he found the boat with water by the bunks on Saturday.
So this is the reason why I'm concerned about that.
Also, I don't like the idea to have water permanetly in touch with the hull inside.
That can result in osmosis from inside out and just on a region of hull under big loads because of the keel . . .

Brian,
I was thinking to open a 4in hole on inner skin sole just below the electric panel, so I could put a 500 GPM bilge pump between the hull and inner skin.
This pump is 3.5 in high, I'm not sure if there is this clerance there.
The hole can be closed with a deck plate (so I would have an inspection hole there) and the hose from the pump would go strait to back and then, on lazarete, make a turn to get back and join the sink discharge hose from back(to avoid another hole on hull).

It's just an idea now.

I'd appreciate any comments/ideas on that.

Whenever I see a bilge pump installation on a H23 I always see them mounted at the stern, just in front of the transom and down at the base of the hull. It's easily accessible through that port cockpit locker and it's connected to the bilge area under the floorboards.

You'd still have a few centimeters of water lying in the area you're referring to since the keel bolts are lower down than this point, but it would work in an emergency.

New 23 foot owner (1986 model) and have the same problems and complaints with annoying water in keelbolt area. Would appreciate pictures from someone out there who must have found a good place for a pump. and who must have drilled new connection holes for the keelbolt area to drain back?......
