installing new Rule with no float. I have 2 browns and a yellow coming into the bilge and the Rule has a brown, a black , and a brown/white which has a tag “connect to manual”. I’m thinking yellow to black but does it matter which of the others connect to whichever of the browns from the panel??

I would think that it would matter, but one must test the wires before making that connection. On your 12V panel the bilge will have toggle switch, auto and hold for manual, you need to figure out which of those leads is the manual pump run lead, the other would go to the float/pump.

Don’t guess. Flip swich to manual see swich two leads have voltage. Switch to auto and repeat. The one common to both is common (probably yellow) and goes to. The one that turns on when in manual goes to brown white. The last two go together. Use heat shrink crimps and good quality crimpers. If you don’t know how to use a multimeter -find a friend to help you do the install.

OR just call a friend over any way and have a beer:beer: together while you stare at the pump and exchange ideas.
You may or may not get the thing to work.. Who would put crazy wire colors on a pump? :banghead:
But the Beer will taste good and after a few who cares what the wire colors are...:poke:

test procedure: -consider yellow the common and attach to black lead from voltmeter.
-attach red lead to one of the brown wires and raise float. if voltage appears then that is the one for the brown pump wire, if not then attach red lead to other brown wire and lift float to verify operation
-attach red lead to brown that did not show voltage and activate swith for pump on panel, voltage should appear so attach brown/white pump wire to that brown wire
-label wires for future reference
pm with any questions
