I am re-working the bilge pump setup on my O'Day 25. I'm trying to hook the discharge hose to the through hull fitting for the sink in the head. The current line runs out a through hull fitting in the stern, calling for a very long hose to reach it. The hose fills up with water when draining, when the pump shuts off, the water in the hose goes back into the bilge. Any ideas? How do you have yours hooked up? Thanks. Rob

Bilge Stuff

Rob, Is the sink outlet running through an underwater through hull before exiting the boat? If so, I would not want to run my bilge pump through it because I would want to be able to close the seacock when I left the boat. The bilge pump on my Catalina is set up similarly to yours with a long hose run. I plan to install a check valve in the line to prevent the back flow you are talking about. Your local marine shop should have what you need, or should be able to order it for you. Justin - O'day Owner's Web
