Bilge Pump Reset - How does it work?

My google-fu is failing me and I can't find anything about this.

Below is a photo of what I assume is a the bilge pump reset (or fuse holder) on my '92 Hunter 33.5. My bilge pump is not operating, with either the switch at the power panel in Auto or On. I pulled the old pump and the impeller wouldn't spin freely so I replaced it, but now I need to get power to the new pump.

Is this a breaker with a reset button to be pushed, or a fuse holder with a fuse which needs replacing? Pressing it doesn't do anything (no travel at all) and it I can't get it to twist as if it were a a fuse holder. You can see it's not sticking out as far as the battery button.

I unscrewed the cover to get a look a peak behind it and didn't see anything helpful. I did measure continuity across the terminals and confirmed it's an open circuit right now.

If I need to replace it, I need to know what to call it to hunt it down.

So just after I posted this I noticed the part number was CDM-25A. I had searched for CDMA-25.

It turns out this CDM-25A is a 25A Klixon C Series Thermal Circuit Breaker, sealed construction, manual reset.

Except mine isn't resetting so I'll need to order a replacement. This could be a challenge because that panel only comes out as far as shown on the second photo. Hopefully there's some slack in the bilge pump wiring that I can work with after removing the breaker. from the panel.

Be sure you have the power off or better battery disconnected before you try to play with the panel and the bolts that are holding that breaker. You do not want a jolt....:yikes: while holding on to a metal wrench.

This is why Boat Workers have small hands... It is like working on a Honda or a Kia. No room to turn around.

Defnitely! I had the shore power and both batteries disconnected before I dug into this.

I found a replacement breaker. $45 shipped! The original is a 25A breaker. My bilge pump is 3.6 and they recommend a 5A fuse. I may skip the breaker and wire in an in-line fuse holder instead. Much cheaper and I trust fuses more than breakers.

Have you tested the breaker before you replace it? remove one wire and run a multi meter over the posts to see if you have a circuit. if not I would move to the float switch.

Good luck.
