A 1984 Hunter 31. My bilge Pump stopped working, , Th automatic bilge pump fuse blew, and my toggle switch does not work. It has worked fine for 4 years since I owned the boat. I cleaned all the connectors, but still the same problem. Any suggestions. Thank you, Richard

Pumps die!

Bearings inside give up, causing drag and friction. Running amperage increases, blows fuses. ( I just went through it on my 1983 33. Spend a few dollars and replace it. Now's a good time to upgrade to a better pump.

When I bought my 40.5 last month, I knew the pump wasnt working. When I removed the pump assembly, the impeller was corroded and incapable of turning. I suspect that a winter or two left with salt water destroyed it. I replaced the pump, and while I was at it, the float switch. Havent done the rewiring yet to see if my problem runs deeper. Good luck.
