Bilge Pump Plumbing

I'm planning to install an electric bilge pump this week-end. I plan to tee it into the water line that runs from the sink drain to the thru-hull on the starboard side. This thru-hull is also drains the starboard cooler in the cockpit. Any thoughts (pro or con) on this install? Thanks, Don

You will have to install some kind of check valve so that the sink and/or cooler do not drain into the bilge. I am debating how to install an electric bilge pump with a float mechanism, and will probably install a separate thru-hull, to keep it simple.
