bilge pump/mast painting

I have a Henderson manual bilge pump mounted in the port, aft corner
of the cockpit. It no longer works and am looking at replacing it.
I bought a guzzler from West Marine, but it would not work either.
What pumps are people using that they have good luck with?

2nd question-looking at painting the mast and boom. This old boat
recommends using a two part polyurethane- The mast now has the
original gold anodized aluminum. Has anyone done this recently?

"Old Faithful" Whale Gusher No.10 get a repair parts kit to keep on the boat for emergencies and it will likely last a lifetime.

I got mine at West Marine but they also carry them at my local chandlery and boat yard. I did a quick Yahoo search and found it here

Free shipping too!

I know it's expensive. Just picture yourself swinging your feet out of your bunk into six inches of sea water in the cabin while you are crusing halfway between Vancouver and Hawaii. At times like that no price is too hig h for a reliable bilge pump.
