Hi folks, any reason I can't replare the hose from the bilge pump to the through hull with a heavier duty hose than that thin stuff sold all over as bilge hose?
Thanks in advance!

go with the best stuff you can. i use trident holding tank hose. makes smooth bends without kinking, no smells at all, and it should last just about forever.

Why bother spending extra $$ unnecessarily?

The corrugated hose isn't good because it induces extra friction, but there's NO pressure to speak of, so use the least expensive flat wall hose you can find. You'd probably find a better deal at Ace Hardware than a marine store.

Why are you replacing the hose from the bilge? That is not the same as the hoses to the head, and do not have to be so thick. Does your bilge have a smell? Also, remember that when the pump shuts off, what is left in the hose comes right back to the bilge. I used a check valve once, but was warned against that because of possible failure of the valve. Now I just live with a little water in the bilge.
