I just replaced my bilge pump and float switch when the pump failed after 15 years or so. The pump works fine now, but breaker switch doesn’t turn on the pump. I’m stymied. Any ideas?
Do you mean you can not turn on the pump manually? If so, it is a wiring problem, use a voltmeter to confirm presence of voltage, starting at the switch.
Why do you want to shut off your bilge pump. See if the pump works when you lift the float switch. It is likely wired directly to the battery so it will still work even when you shut off the main power switch on the boat.
