Hunter Horizon 23 Lake Windermere
Hello,
Can you help please? I have just purchased a road trailer originally built by RM Trailers for a Huner 272.
The beam of the 272 is 9ft and the beam of my Horzon 23 is 8ft 6".
I am hoping the trailer will still fit my Horizon 23 without modification, as I think the inside width between bottom of bilge keels will only be slightly less than the 272?
Can anyone let me know the width measurement between keels (inside bottom) for a Horizon 23?
Thanks Rob.

There was no Hunter 272 I recall. Find out the precise model first and I will get back with. Also provide some photos of the trailer as well

I think he is referring to the European Hunter Horizon 272. I believe both the 272 and the 23 have dual keels so they can sit on the bottom during the extreme UK tidal falls. Dave might be able to provide some expertise if you include a picture of the trailer as requested.

As Benny says I think it must be the Hunter Horizon 272 - here are photos of the trailer - thanks.

I will not be able to help here as the Hunter Hoizon 272 was not built by Hunter Marine. When the American company of Hunter Marine acquired a facility in England to build their boats, there was another sailboat company in England that had the name of Hunter which built sailboats too. The American company had to change their name. To my recollection our American Hunter Marine never built any twin keel boats. The Hunter 23 as most would know it was only a fixed wing keel boats. Thus I am thinking we are dealing with the original English Hunter company and I do not know how to answer your question either the twin keels. Sorry I could not help here but at least you know more than before and can steer you into a better direction toward that English company

It seems we are helpless as we do not have a source in America to tell us the measurements between the keels for the 27 and the 23. From looking at your picture it seems like the keels are to fit between a 4 to 6 inches wide planks at each trailer side and the only thing that occurs to me would be to install two additional pieces to widen the surface of these planks. I see the planks have side support and front support so the boat does not slide sideways nor forward. I think this trailer would work but might need some fabricating to make sure the load is properly supported for safety. Perhaps a Hunter Horizon association in England might be able to provide the desired measurements.
