Been sailing for 22 years, I've had my 1999 320 for about one month. Performance is excellent. I had to clean out the bildge using lots of water. It seemed that the pump quit and I think the cause was over heating. Took a while but it started up again. Its also very noisey. I don't recall what brand this pump is. I've always had a Rule sitting in the bildge, and never had a problem, very quiet, very efficient. Anyone out there replace the pump? For winter I like to drain the tanks to the bildge and this pump just won't handle that. Thanks

Pump is a "PAR" which is a Jabsco which is

part of ITT Industries which is also Rule, Flojet, Danforth Compass. It is a self-priming diaphragm design that can run dry. They are usually mounted under the berth in aft cabin on port side. Location leads to noisy operation as the FG panel it's mounted to acts as a drum. First time mine fired up it scared me to death, I was just backing out of the slip & thought transmission was self destructing. However it should be at least a 4.5 Gal per minute flow, and can be mounted where it is because it has vert. dry suction lift of 7 feet. The pick-up hose in the bilge probably has a piece of window screen over it to act as filter, first cause of noisy operation is a kink or blockage of either intake or discharge hoses. These pumps should really move more water than you describe. BTW there will be 2 intake hoses in bilge, other is for the Whale hand bilge pump in cockpit, 1 is black rubber other is reinforced water hose, can't recall which is which right now.
