My 76" batten splintered last summer. I'm having a hard time finding a replacement that can be shipped to me. I tried wood from a local hardware store, but that cracked the first time out. My Hunter is a 1990, 18.5. Any suggestion? Thanks. edlynn@usa.com

Battan

I recently ordered a 9 foot battan for my main, shipped to my home, rather inexpensive, found the maker in the back of a sail magazine. try thumbing through the rear classifieds of any sail magazine.

Replacement Batten

Ed, I believe that the UPS length limit is 84" so it should be no problem to have a sail loft ship you a replacement batten. We have a Doyle loft in Buffalo and also in City Island. Give one of them a call. Thanks, Bill Colombo Doyle Sailmakers
