Wow, jumping in late and seeing a Pile-on
Ross thread, I have to make comment. A sweep with a powerful light will affect night vision. The one being spotted is watching the beam come at them and when the one shooting the beam sees the boat, they hesitate. With a light that powerfull, it doesn't take long. Most makers don't change. However, there is always that one that is not where you are looking for it. Stiltsville channel into Biscayne Bay that goes by No Name Harbor was a shock when my family trip came up to the marker and it wasn't there. Two GPS units to verify location... it wasn't there. Night time, just want to get into the bay and anchor from a return trip from Bimini. 15 year old charts...( OK, don't rub it in, my 78 year old Dad was handling the nav info.Figured he didn't need new charts for this trip.)Fact is dad decided to just shoot for #2 marker. They made it through! The new charts move that maker a pretty good distance. A good light would have helped. For that matter, good charts wold have helped.I also have to say, you guys that disagree do not need to attack a person verbally. You just need to post a good reply that holds water. How bout those bums that are sailing this weekend...r.w.landau
