Get all of the drawings that you can
measure, measure, measure. If it could cost 3K, how much do you make per hour? I made the change from an Atomic four to a Volvo 2001 look pretty easy but there was about three weeks of very careful planning involved.

Thinking about repowering
As the present owner of a Isl. 32 MK II and a past owner of a Pearson 30, both powered by the mighty A-4, I would only consider repowering with a new diesel (Yanmar preferred brand up this way) IF I planned to keep the boat at least 10 years, more like 20. Difficult to recoup cost of diesel compared to a rebuilt A-4. I've been told the cost of a new diesel will be 2X that of a rebuilt Moyer A4, when you factor in new engine beds, et. Good luck! Has anyone seriously considered one of the electric motors? I am curious but never to the point on any reasearch. I read in one of the sailing mags where they were installing them in some new boats now but cant remember what kind.

The ozmotor is $5600, plus needs 4-6 batteries. It looks like an alternative if you never exceed 20 miles motoring. No good for Intercoastal or dead air crossing.
