I've been using Windalert lately. The default weather model (you have several you can choose from) seems to be more accurate than the NOAA ones I've been using.

On a side note, Bluefin marine weather for android phones is really nice app for putting NOAA forcasts, observations, tides, etc in one place.

Because my job involves checking the aviation forecasts from various airports, I have found that the TAF (code for terminal area forecast) is the best bet. If there is an airport with weather reporting capabilities(you can find them on wunderground) the observations are usually mostly correct. What I do is to get the forecast for the current time and compare that to the automated hourly METAR observation. If the two are close, chances are that your forecast will match whats to come. The window of accuracy is up to about 6 hours. The forecasts update 4 times a day unless there is an ammendment.
