Craigslist is likely your best bet, that's where I found mine. For a small boat most people would not drive over a half day to look at it so Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh are reasonable markets. I drove 200 miles to get mine.
They seem to have higher asking prices in Westerm PA for some reason, that's why I had to drive for a better deal.

There is an old dealer in cincinnati who may broker the boat. What about listing it with Texas Sailing.

Sorry about the death of your friend. If you can send me the link to the sale advertisement, I can post it on my club's Facebook page. We sail on Alum, which is about 10 minutes north of Hoover, and there is a C22 racing fleet, and tons of other C22s at the docks that do not race. It's a popular boat on Alum. Bought one myself this past winter.
