Salon Cushion Velcro
We have a H-35 which uses strips of Velcro to hold the cushions in place too but the problem is the half of the Velcro that attaches to the plywood comes unglued. I've tried to re-glue the strips to no avail. Lately I've come across special glue for Velcro but it doesn't seem to adhere, perhaps because of some of the non-velcro adhesive that was used. A winter project is to revisit this problem and probably use Acetone to clean off the old adhesive before applying new adhesive.I've thought of using stainless steel staples or small screws or brads but I'd like to keep it as original as possible. Also, metal fastners would put a point-load on the Velcro vice the glue which spreads the load out over a larger area. Then there is the access problem to the three storage areas under each settee. The optomum solution would be to have the cushions split into sections for each storage area. As it is now one has to lift up the entire cushion to reach one storage spot which means stuff on top of the cushion has to be moved first. I might kill two birds with one stone this winter and have an upholstery shop modify the cushions into three sections and use new velcro strips thereby solving all the problems at one time.I'd welcome comments on how to attach the velcro to the plywood with adhesive.
