I would like to know what other owners have found is the best way to secure cushions in place. Mine use velcro strips at this time, but these are much less than perfect. Any preferences or original thoughts. I frequently move my cushions around, so they cannot be fixed in place.

Strips too small

I would guess that strips are too narrow to be much good. They probably ride off. Try those bigger, velcro circles, maybe 3-4" in dimeter. That would allow the cushion to move some without lsoing contact with the velco bond. ph.

Velcro comes in a variety of "strengths" and sizes

Replace yours with longer, wider heavy duty strips and your cushions will stay put.

Salon Cushion Velcro

We have a H-35 which uses strips of Velcro to hold the cushions in place too but the problem is the half of the Velcro that attaches to the plywood comes unglued. I've tried to re-glue the strips to no avail. Lately I've come across special glue for Velcro but it doesn't seem to adhere, perhaps because of some of the non-velcro adhesive that was used. A winter project is to revisit this problem and probably use Acetone to clean off the old adhesive before applying new adhesive. I've thought of using stainless steel staples or small screws or brads but I'd like to keep it as original as possible. Also, metal fastners would put a point-load on the Velcro vice the glue which spreads the load out over a larger area. Then there is the access problem to the three storage areas under each settee. The optomum solution would be to have the cushions split into sections for each storage area. As it is now one has to lift up the entire cushion to reach one storage spot which means stuff on top of the cushion has to be moved first. I might kill two birds with one stone this winter and have an upholstery shop modify the cushions into three sections and use new velcro strips thereby solving all the problems at one time. I'd welcome comments on how to attach the velcro to the plywood with adhesive.

I would suggest that you either find some S.S. staples or brass brads and just nail the velcro in place. I agree with with everyone else that if you have a large enough piece of industrial strength velcro it is VERY strong. We put some drawers under our settees to gain some better storage and access. slipping cushions

Not sure about saoln cushions but for my cockpit cushions, covered with Sunbrella and floor carpets, I have pieces of rubber shelf lining that absolutely keep everything from sliding. It's the stuff that looks kind of like a foam rubber spider web. I use it under a number of things I don't want to slide and it works great. It's about 18" wide and I have long pieces under the cushions and carpets. It's easily cut with scissors.
